Medical Research Council (MRC) joins the Net Zero Carbon Reduction Programme

We are delighted to announce that the MRC, one of the councils making up UKRI has joined this groundbreaking collaborative programme.

We are delighted to announce that the MRC, one of the councils making up United Kingdom Research & Innovation (UKRI) has joined 35 universities, a local authority and a multi-academy trust in using this groundbreaking collaborative programme. The aim of the programme is to gather primary carbon data from the supply chain, where it exists, and where it doesn’t to support suppliers to get started on their carbon reduction journey. To-date we have collectively engaged with over 1,300 suppliers and have supported the delivery of 7,000 carbon reduction actions and counting.

Jimmy Brannigan, Co-Director at NETpositive Futures said, “We are delighted that the MRC has joined the programme.  We believe that this programme supports the Concordat for the Environmental Sustainability of Research and Innovation Practice, adopted by many leading universities, the government ambition to achieve net zero by 2050 and aligns with UKRI’s aims as both funder and deliverer of research and innovation.”
